Winter (January) Orientation – For Students Enrolling in the Spring semester

Winter Orientation is a comprehensive, partial-day program designed for incoming freshmen, transfer, and readmitted students. The Orientation program is relevant to all student types and is highly informative. During Orientation, students and parents learn about the institution’s important calendars, offices, policies, and procedures. Information about Financial Aid and all other issues important to both on and off campus students is provided.

Each newly admitted student receives an invitation to Orientation by mail in November/December, This invitation offers instructions on how to RSVP for the program, as well as information regarding each student's testing status. Any student who wishes to RSVP for the program or who has further questions should contact the Office of Orientation (see below).

Students admitted for the Spring semester (January - May term) are encouraged to 1) complete any necessary placement tests and/or 2) schedule their classes in advance of the January Orientation program. The Winter Orientation invitation will provide each student with instructions on how to find and set up an appointment with his or her Academic Advisor. Freshmen are permitted to begin scheduling classes in November - please check the Registrar's Calendar (from the Quick Links menu on the homepage) for the specific date. The invitation will also provide details about placement tests. For more information on the COMPASS placement test and to determine whether you will need to test, please see the COMPASS Placement Test link on this page (right).

Evening Orientation programs are offered for adult students, as well as for transfer/readmitted students.  A Family Orientation program is offered concurrently during each of these programs for parents and other guests. For more family/guest information, please see the Family/Guest Orientation link on this page (right).

Each newly admitted student will automatically receive an Orientation invitation by mail, which will offer instructions on how to RSVP for the program, as well as information regarding each student's testing status. Orientation programs occur prior to each academic semester. For the convenience of those students enrolling in the fall semester, Orientation is offered at various times throughout the summer months.
