You are motivated. You are exceptional. You are an academic achiever. Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College want to reward you for the hard work you've done in high school.
The Combined Ability Scholarship is our premier recognition for high school seniors who live outside of West Virginia. Scholarship recipients receive $1,500 per year applied to tuition and fees. The scholarship is renewable for three years for those who maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
There is no deadline for application for this scholarship. Applicants are selected on a rolling basis.
Here's how you can apply:
- 1. Apply for admission to Fairmont State University or Pierpont Community & Technical College.

- 2. Complete your admissions file
- Submit your high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores to: Office of Admissions, 1201 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.
- 3. Meet the requirements.
- To qualify, you must be a current high school senior who lives outside of West Virginia.
- Our staff will calculate a Combined Ability Score for you by adding your ACT/SAT percentile with your class rank percentile or GPA, whichever is higher.
- You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (Combined Ability Score of 130), be a first time freshman and a U.S. citizen.
Criteria:
• Combined ability of 130 (minimum GPA of 2.0)
• First time freshman
• Out-of-state
• U.S. citizen
• Complete admissions file (application, high school transcript, test scores)
Deadline:
• Rolling (no deadline) (This scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Funding is limited.)
Value:
• Scholarship recipients receive $1500 per year.
• Renewable for 3 years with at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA
