Evening College

The Evening College for High Schools Students Program gives high school students an opportunity to take college courses while still a high school student. Courses for this program are regular college courses offered at our regional campus sites.
 
Students have the opportunity to take two courses per semester of regional site evening courses while still a high school student. These two courses are in addition to any Dual Credit courses taken during the regular high school day. (For more information, see Dual Credit)

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Outstanding high school students who have met the following criteria are eligible:

  • Designated high school junior or senior
  • Earned a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Obtain written recommendation from high school principal
  • Meet the pre-requisites for the courses as outlined in the college catalog
  • Complete an Early Admission Program registration form

COSTS

Evening College offers great savings in tuition dollars! These courses are offered at a greatly reduced rate with guidelines set by the West Virginia High Education Policy Commission. For the 2015-16 academic year, the cost for the Evening College for High School Students Program courses are $84 per credit hour. A 3 credit-hour course costs $252 and a 4 credit-hour course costs $336.00.

TEXTBOOKS

Evening College courses will use the college textbooks adopted by Pierpont Community & Technical College faculty. Students are responsible for purchasing their textbooks.

HOW DO I ENROLL?

A representative from Pierpont Community & Technical College visit most high schools and register students for the Dual Credit Program. See your guidance counselor for more information regarding Dual Credit.

WILL EVENING COLLEGE COURSES TRANSFER TO OTHER COLLEGES?

Great news! Evening College courses will transfer to other West Virginia colleges/universities. If you plan to attend a private or out-of-state college or university, you will need to contact them regarding transfer credits.
