What is the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program?

This program prepares graduates for a career as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT). Aircraft Maintenance Technicians inspect, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair airframes, power plants, and their related mechanical and electrical systems. Aircraft maintenance operations are routinely carried out as a function of major and regional airline maintenance operations, to include airline major maintenance base operations and airline line maintenance operations.

What is the Aircraft Structures Training Program?

This 8-week program successfully prepares individuals for a new career in airframe repair and assembly, in collaboration with local aerospace companies actively hiring entry-level workers. ASTP features hands-on shop exercises in the sheet metal and riveting, classroom instruction, and online Manufacturing Skills Standard Council certifications.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Aircraft production fundamentals.
  • Introduction to aircraft basics and structure technology.
  • Safety Certification - Manufacturing Skills Standard Council (MSSC).
  • Quality Practices & Measurement Certification - Manufacturing Skills Standard Council (MSSC).
  • Shop math and blueprint reading.
  • Shop skills – assembly tools, drilling, reaming, countersinking.
  • Fastener installation - fastener pattern layouts, solid rivet installation.
  • FOD Control - Foreign Object Damage or Debris prevention.
