Pierpont EMS program prepares EMTs, paramedics using real-life scenarios and simulations
 
FAIRMONT — When medical problems arise and accidents happen, you call 911. You rely on the EMTs, paramedics and other first responders to help you, and to help make you or your loved ones better again.

FAIRMONT — When Kayleb Band began his studies at Pierpont Culinary Academy, he read a book written by national chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain.
 
Unbeknownst to Band, less than two years later, he’d would cook a meal for the celebrity.
 
GLENVILLE — Pierpont Community & Technical College and Glenville State College last week entered into an agreement that will allow students to more easily transition from a two-year program to a bachelor's degree program.
 
Students of Pierpont who complete a two-year program for one of several degrees and earn at least a 2.0 GPA will be guaranteed to be accepted into a complementary Glenville State bachelor’s program.

Despite a language barrier, a heavy work load and a midnight shift at Wal-Mart, brothers Baldev and Karanveer Rathore still managed to make the Pierpont Community & Technical College’s President’s and Dean’s list.
 
While taking classes for her Master’s degree, Melissa White found her workload stressful as her lessons and assignments piled up. At the same time, White herself was teaching classes daily with about 20 students each, who all felt the same way she did.

Senate Education expands, advances free WV community college bill

West Virginia’s Senate Education Committee advanced a bill Tuesday to make in-state community college free, after amending the legislation to offer the opportunity to more students.

Pierpont Students Named to Fall 2017 President's List and Dean's List
 
Fairmont, WV- Pierpont Community & Technical College has released the Dean’s List and the President’s List to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the President’s List.
