August 15, 2017– Pierpont Community & Technical College, following the lead of the West Virginia Community and Technical College System (CTCS) has launched a new initiative to help boost the college-going rate of high school graduates in the mountain state. All recent West Virginia high school graduates have been automatically accepted into their local community and technical college.
Pierpont is honored to announce our partnership with FirstEnergy has taken another major step forward. Through the FirstEnergy Foundation’s generosity and firm commitment to our partnership, the Foundation has awarded a grant to Pierpont for $200,000, with half awarded this year and the other half awarded next year. This follows FirstEnergy’s investment of nearly $240,000 of in-kind contributions to support Pierpont programming in the past five years.
Mon Power has hired 20 new line and substation employees from the Power Systems Institute program it has with Pierpont Community and Technical College in Fairmont. The 18 line workers and 2 substation electricians are from West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Fairmont, WV- The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded Pierpont Community & Technical College a $1,017,308 Power Up grant for the Aerospace Workforce in Coal-Impacted Communities of West Virginia project. The ARC grant will help increase the number of former coal miners who graduate from workforce training and two-year degree programs at the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center (NAEC) in Bridgeport, WV. Pierpont’s RCB NAEC provides the state’s only FAA-certified aerospace training, degrees, and certifications.
Pierpont Students Named to Spring 2017 President's List and Dean's List
Fairmont, WV- Pierpont Community & Technical College has released the Dean’s List and the President’s List to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the President’s List.
Pierpont Community & Technical College has earned national recognition as one of only eleven Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges according to a study released by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Pierpont is one of only eleven community colleges recognized nationwide, and the only one named to the list in West Virginia.

Pierpont Community & Technical College will host an Open House on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 on the campus of 1201 Locust Avenue Fairmont, WV. The event is designed for people of all ages and their families to experience what North Central West Virginia’s Community College has to offer.
