FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Pierpont Community and Technical College announced the completion of its United Way of Marion County campaign results. The college raised more than $5,667 for the community to help support 29 unique programs at 22 health and human service agencies within the county.

"Personally for me it is extremely important. I take a lot of pride in the fact that we are part of the community and we are trying to help our community. We started the 'Pierpont Pride' food pantry for our students and we do the monthly meals for them now. So, I think it's very important to involve our community and be a part of it. Let them know that we are here for them." said Jillian Sole, campus chairperson for United Way campaign.

The official amount exceeded last year's amount by more than $2,400.
