As Pierpont Community and Technical College celebrates 50 years of providing quality career and technical training to North Central West Virginia and beyond, the institution is delighted to offer a series of events and celebrations during “Your Community’s College Week,” a week-long celebration of community and collaboration beginning on Monday, November 11. Join us for events and activities for all ages that give back to our local communities, provide hands-on opportunities to experience a variety of academic programs across Pierpont’s campuses, reveal the institution’s new strategic plan, and more.

Monday, November 11
Join Pierpont Community and Technical College faculty, staff, and students in a variety of volunteer projects around Marion County. All events are free and open to the public.
Union Mission Project
Volunteers will assist with wrapping presents in preparation for the Children’s Christmas Party at Union Rescue Mission, scheduled for December 14th. This wrapping project will ensure that gifts are ready for the children in the area.

Food Drive Delivery
Volunteers will pick up canned goods donated to Pierpont’s food drive for delivery to local “little food pantries.” Volunteers are responsible for providing their own transportation to the delivery sites. Delivery sites will be provided to volunteers.

Letter Writing Campaign
Volunteers will write letters of friendship and encouragement to patients at the VA Hospital. Letters will be delivered during the Day of Service.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with a “Letter Writing” event November 4 – 8. Volunteers will work two-hour shifts at a table where employees and students can stop by to write thank-you letters to our veterans. To volunteer, sign up here.
Tuesday, November 12
Community members are invited to Pierpont’s Advanced Technology Center for a luncheon featuring the “reintroduction” of the institution as West Virginia’s newest standalone community and technical college. The program will feature an overview of Pierpont’s 2024 – 2026 Strategic Plan and exciting updates from across campus. The luncheon is free and open to the public. Registration is required for those planning to attend.

Introduction to Medical Coding

Anthem and Aria are Denver-based, award-winning “mind-magicians” who rose to popularity following their appearance on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The duo, referred to as the “Psychic Soulmates,” provide an interactive show for all ages. Light refreshments will be provided.
