Pierpont Community & Technical College’s Center for Workforce Education provides a variety of non-credit courses and programs designed to provide a student with skill upgrades, certifications, and training for many purposes, including gainful employment, salary increases and/or advancement within a company or industry.

Courses and programs are offered based on workforce needs and can be delivered in a variety of ways including online, instructor-led and hybrid (a combination of face-to-face and online).

Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs- Youth Summer Maker Camp

Open to Youth age 12-16

Learn the basics of small electronics, computer programming, design, and entrepreneurship.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education is lifelong learning beyond a degree or certificate program that ensures professionals have the latest knowledge in their fields.

Continuing Education programs are occupation based and offer credentialed skills that today’s workforce need to be effective and marketable. High demand occupations in healthcare, energy, and information technology as well as entrepreneurs are currently experiencing growth and need qualified workers. These programs are open to anyone wishing to achieve a recognized credential to start a career or advance in their current profession.

Corporate Training

Customized Corporate training is a proven solution to address today’s challenges business and industry face attracting, retaining, and strengthening their workforce.

Pierpont’s Center for Workforce Education works with companies and organizations to develop programs focused on their specific training needs that ensure employees receive the knowledge and skills necessary to increase performance or to meet industry standards of excellence. Training may be conducted at a Pierpont campus, the company’s site or wherever is most effective. Many training programs result in valuable, portable credentials resulting in a modern and highly skilled workforce.

  • Customized workforce training that meets the needs of an individual company or industry
  • Resources through the WV Community and Technical College (WVCTC) (link is external) System and partnerships with other state and federal funding opportunities

PRIDE Academy

The Pierpont PRIDE Academy is a 1+1 workforce program that provides life and vocational skills to first and second-year students respectively.

The program is geared toward students who have an Intellectually Disabled/Developmentally Delayed (ID/DD) diagnosis.

NOTE: Potential students should be able to care for their physical and emotional needs independently during school hours.
