Christy Miller, a visionary educational leader, is known for her abilities to support and grow struggling schools and systems. With an unwavering commitment to student success, Christy has dedicated her life to transforming underperforming educational institutions into beacons of light. This dedication began as a young child learning from the model her parents provided as public educators at the K12 and higher education levels. Bill and Rosemary Phillips, dedicated their lives to helping improve the lives of their students and community, always guiding the way for others to seek and find their excellence along the way.
Miller has carried this with her in every position she has held in her own educational journey. She served as a teacher, administrator at the local and state level, and superintendent of Taylor County Schools from July 2018 to June 2023, currently serving as superintendent in Upshur County Schools. Christy has worked with many dedicated leaders and mentors in education, helping her provide transformative experiences to the families and students she served. She also has served alongside many community leaders currently in the role of President of the Tygart Valley United Way Board and member of the Pierpont Community &Technical College Board of Governors.
Miller is married to Chip and together they are the proud parents of five children, five grandchildren, (with another due in October), and two great grandchildren. The proudest moments aside from being grandparents are watching the paths each of them has taken to serve others in the field of pharmacology, law enforcement and law, engineering, and supporting our Veterans at the WV Veterans Nursing Home.
