Prior to gilbert’s 30-year aviation technology teaching, Gilbert’s career path included aircraft lineman, airframe and powerplant mechanic, aircraft engineering technician, station maintenance control, and aircraft maintenance supervisor. Gilbert’s prior employment was with major airlines including Eastern Airlines, Continental Airlines, and United Airlines. Education includes an Associate of Science in Aviation Maintenance, an Associate of Arts in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management, a master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Gilbert holds FAA credentials including Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, Private Pilot, Inspection Authorization, and Designated Mechanic Examiner. Gilbert’s tenured academic career path includes positions as Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Senior Professor, and currently Director of Aviation Technology.
