Fairmont, WV – Nancy Parks, Associate Provost for Student Services at Pierpont Community and Technical College, has been named the 2024 Non-Classified Staff Employee of the Year.

Nominations for Parks noted that she is always willing to help and is often found assisting faculty, staff, and students across all of Pierpont’s campuses.

“Pierpont has been a great place to work,” said Parks. “You know you are doing good work alongside great people. My role has allowed me to utilize my experiences in the classroom through teaching, advising, and front-line student services in ways that can support institutional efforts overall. It is a pleasure to work closely with many of the offices at Pierpont to come up with ideas to recruit, retain, and engage students and bring projects to fruition.”

Originally from Clarksburg, West Virginia, Parks is a graduate of Fairmont State College [University] and West Virginia University. Since beginning her tenure at Pierpont in 1989, Parks has transitioned through several roles on campus as an academic lab manager, associate professor, Director of the Center for Teaching, Director of Advising and Assessment, and most recently, Associate Provost for Student Services. She has delivered presentations for the Higher Learning Commission, National Careers Pathway Network, the Upward Bound Program, West Virginia GEAR UP, and more. Parks also serves as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, providing her the opportunity to travel to other community colleges across the United States, share her expertise, and bring viable ideas back to Pierpont.

“This past year has been especially energizing for our campus and community as Pierpont welcomes new leadership and we begin to reimagine our mission, purpose, and core values,” added Parks. “Pierpont has so much promise and a bright future ahead. I am proud to be a part of the team and so happy to have been selected as this year’s recipient of the Non-Classified Staff Employee of the Year Award.”

Parks was recognized during Pierpont’s annual Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony in early May.
