Fairmont, WV – Jaden Dent, Customer Service Specialist at Pierpont Community and Technical College, has been named the 2024 Classified Staff Employee of the Year.

Nominations for Dent noted her willingness to take on challenges and foster positive relationships with current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and guests. A colleague expressed that Dent always has a smile on her face and jumps at every opportunity to help those around her.

“I am honored to receive the Classified Staff Employee of the Year Award,” said Dent. “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to my colleagues whose support and collaboration have been instrumental in my success. Each day, I am driven by the opportunity to empower students and make a positive impact on their lives. Pierpont’s commitment to student success, community engagement, and workforce development makes it a special place to work.”

Dent hails from Fairmont, West Virginia, and worked as a student assistant for two years while earning her degree from Pierpont. During that time, she fell in love with the community and her colleagues, which influenced her decision to apply for a position at the institution following graduation. In her role, Dent assists with inquiries and administrative tasks, provides internal and external event support, and collaborates with offices and programs across Pierpont’s campuses to manage communications and coordinate recruitment efforts.

“It is a privilege to contribute to an institution that plays a vital role in shaping the future through education,” added Dent. “The sense of community, diversity, and innovation fosters a supportive environment where everyone is valued and encouraged to thrive. Pierpont’s mission inspires me to wake up every day with purpose and dedication to serving our institution and students, and I am thankful for this recognition and the privilege of being a part of this outstanding team.”

Dent was recognized during Pierpont’s annual Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony in early May.
