FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Pet owners are invited to support student learning while treating their animals to professional care during the Student Vet Tech Association (SVTA) Pet Wash Fundraiser, scheduled for Thursday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pierpont Community & Technical College’s Veterinary Technology Building, located at 211 S. Chestnut St. in Clarksburg.
The community event provides students in Pierpont’s Veterinary Technology program with hands-on experience while raising funds to support the Student Vet Tech Association’s educational and professional development activities.
Bath services are available for dogs and cats of all sizes, with pricing based on weight:
- Small dogs and cats (up to 20 pounds): $20
- Medium dogs (21–45 pounds): $25
- Large dogs (46–85 pounds): $30
- Extra-large dogs (86 pounds and up): $35
Additional services include nail trims and gland expression for $10 each.
No appointments are required, and pets will be bathed in the order they arrive. The event is cash only. Proceeds from this event will be directed toward the emergency medical expenses of Pumpkin, a program dog currently recovering from life-threatening complications of a routine surgical procedure.
“Events like the pet wash give our students valuable, real-world experience in animal handling, client communication and clinical procedures,” said Bobbi Loveridge, Assistant Professor of Veterinary Technology at Pierpont. “They’re able to apply what they learn in the classroom while providing a meaningful service to the community.”
Pierpont’s Veterinary Technology program emphasizes experiential learning, preparing students for careers in clinical and animal care settings through hands-on training and community engagement.
